Naperville Sunrise Rotary to Host Working Bikes Collection in Naperville
On Saturday October 16th the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise will be collecting used bicycles, helmets and accessories for the non-profit organization Working Bikes (workingbikes.org) of Chicago. The collection will take place from 9 a, - noon at Naperville Bank & Trust, 5 S. Washington in Downtown Naperville. The bikes will either be repaired by volunteers to be given to people in need across the Chicagoland region, or shipped as-is to charitable partners in Africa and Central America. Tax receipts will be available.
Working Bikes gives donated bicycles new life by redistributing them as tools of empowerment in local and global communities. Since its inception in 1999, Working Bikes volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters have enabled new life for 100,000 bicycles across the globe and tens of thousands in Chicago. Over one hundred thousand people have been empowered to access resources and opportunities that otherwise could have been out of reach – reducing waste, lessening pollution, and improving health in the process.
The Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise meets Fridays at 7 am for breakfast at Naperville Country Club and on Zoom. Guests and prospective members are welcome to join leaders, exchange ideas and take part in action to enrich our community. See how leaders from Naperville and countries, cultures, and occupations around the world are taking action — to enhance health, empower youth, promote peace, and improve their communities.
